Hey! I'm Fiza :) I’m the curator, order packer, meetup planner, stationery enthusiast, and do-er of everything behind Toronto Journal Club.
I have always loved travelling, but these days, my itineraries include more stationery shops than tourist spots.
I have wandered through stationery stores in Japan, explored creative markets in Taiwan and attended events like NYC Stationery Fest, Taiwan Creative Expo and KamiHaku. Sometimes I travel with a carefully planned list. Other times, I follow a cute shop sign down a side street and see where it takes me.
The best part is not only finding beautiful stationery, it's meeting the people who made it.
At festivals and markets, I get to speak with artists about their illustrations, watch makers demonstrate their products and hear the stories behind their work. I love the people that make the stationery community what it is.
I wanted to bring some of that feeling home to Toronto.
So, Toronto Journal Club was born.
I kept finding incredible stationery from artists in Japan, Taiwan,
Malaysia and other parts of Asia that were difficult to find in Canada.
But I did not want to create another shop filled with endless things to buy.
I wanted to create a place where stationery felt personal. Where you
could discover an artist you had never heard of, learn the story behind
their work and find something that genuinely made you excited to open
your journal.
At the same time, I wanted a community. 🌷
A place where people could bring the supplies they already owned, sit
around a table and create together. No perfect handwriting required. No
beautifully finished spreads. No pressure to buy anything or even know
exactly what you are doing.
In 2025, I brought those two ideas together and gave them a name: Toronto Journal Club.
Part stationery shop, part creative community and part love letter to
all the journalers and stationery lovers I've met in Toronto.

Community should be free
Our meetups are free to attend because we believe connection should not come with an entry fee.
Bring your journal, sketchbook, planner or a random notebook you found in the back of your drawer. Come with a friend or arrive alone. Use your own supplies, trade with someone beside you or explore the materials on our shared table.
You do not need to be “good” at journaling. You just have to show up.

Creativity doesn't
require constant shopping
We love stationery, a lot! But we don't believe you need to keep buying more to be creative.
Use the sticker you have been saving. Finish the half-used tape.
Trade supplies, share scraps and give old materials a new purpose.
We hope the things you purchase from us become part of your life, not just part of a collection sitting untouched on a shelf.

Everything is chosen with care
The shop is intentionally curated.
We look for products with thoughtful artwork, useful details and stories worth sharing. Many are items I use myself, discovered while travelling or found through conversations with independent artists.
We are not trying to carry everything. We would rather offer a smaller selection of things we truly love.

Toronto Journal Club is still at the beginning of its story.
We hope to bring more independent artists to Canada, host more
meetups around Toronto and create opportunities for people to share,
experiment and make new connections.
We want to collaborate with artists, create original Toronto Journal
Club products and continue travelling to learn directly from the people
behind the work we carry.
But no matter how much we grow, the goal will remain the same:
To make creativity feel more approachable.
